About the High Impact Institute

The High Impact Institute team is dedicated to helping organizations unleash their greatest potential to serve. The Institute was formed in 2004 through the innovative partnership of Fargo, North Dakota-based Dakota Medical Foundation (DMF) and the Alex Stern Family Foundation, which saw a pressing need for charities to maximize their capability to impact health and quality of life over the long term.

The Institute cultivates an ecosystem of charities, donors, and the larger community. It's designed to be a vehicle for charity leaders to grow, innovate, and collaborate through ongoing coaching, training, and resource development. The Institute also serves as a co-host and fundraising guide for Giving Hearts Day, one of the first and longest-running giving days in the United States. Since 2008, Giving Hearts Day has helped raise more than $90 million to improve health and quality of life across North Dakota and northwest Minnesota.
